- Plug in your Gross Sales, Discounts, Returns, Shipping Income, and Sales Tax collected directly from your Finances Summary report in Shopify.
- Input the total payments received, broken out by payment method, also reflected on the Finances Summary report.
- Enter your true Cost of Goods Sold so your financial reports will show your true profitability on the products you've sold
- Record your processing fees & payouts to verify that you're receiving everything you should be
- You choose the frequency you update this information - daily, weekly, or monthly

- Easily add every single transaction where you're spending money
- Select from a dropdown what you spent money on (i.e. inventory purchase, software, advertising, sales tax payment, credit card payment, etc...)

With over 10 years of accounting experience, I've seen firsthand how retail bookkeeping is much more complicated than other industries—and how many bookkeepers don't have the experience or education to do it correctly.
I started my business in July 2021 after leaving my corporate accounting job (with a severance package and a newborn baby!). My second-ever client was a boutique owner, and I quickly realized that retail bookkeeping requires specialized knowledge that most financial professionals don't have.

This spreadsheet was designed to work specifically with Shopify sellers, as the Earnings tab is laid out to match exactly what's shown in the available Shopify reports.
But, as long as you can find the same numbers in your Square reports, I don't see why not!
I use Square for my boutique. Can I still use this income & expense tracker.
The spreadsheet will be shared with you via a link to a Google Sheet. Once you click the link, you'll be prompted to make a copy, and you can save your own copy to your own Google Drive.
If you prefer to use in Excel, you can simply download the sheet & save to your own files!
