Junior Bookkeeper

We are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented individual who takes initiative and thrives in an independent working environment.

Are you an experienced bookkeeper who thrives in an independent working environment? Do you have a knack for problem solving and ensuring accuracy in financial records? If you have a track record of meeting deadlines and keeping organized, then we want to hear from you!


As a Junior Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for accurately recording financial transactions in QuickBooks Online, recording journal entries, reconciling bank accounts, credit cards, and payment processors, and ensuring the accuracy of all recorded transactions for approximately 10-15 clients with room to grow. You will also assist in requesting documentation and information from clients, and preparing accurate financial reports.

Type of Position: Part-time employee, growing to more full-time

Position Hours: Average of 10-15 hours per week to start

Position Pay: $20-25/hour, based on experience

This position reports directly to the owner/CEO

  • Categorize and record financial transactions in QuickBooks Online
  • Record journal entries to input sales-related information from client's point of sale systems or to record payroll related entries
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and payment processors and troubleshoot any errors in reconciliation
  • Ensure the accuracy of all recorded transactions
  • Request documentation and information from clients and ensure consistent follow-ups to retrieve necessary information
  • Review and code receipts, invoices, and bills in Quickbooks Online
  • Keep accurate records and information about each client
  • Create SOPs (standard operating procedures) as needed for your role and duties
  • Update the owner on the status of client work and any delays
  • To ensure your application is reviewed, please include "Bluey is the best" as your email subject line
  • Perform month-end close with accuracy
  • Prepare financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Fill out monthly Quality Control forms with detail
  • Provide general support to the owner on bookkeeping & operations-related tasks
  • Stay updated with accounting principles, practices, regulations, and fundamentals
  • Handle general admin tasks that are related to the bookkeeping team
  • Maintain confidentiality of clients' information and ensure you handle all necessary sensitive data
  • Attend weekly virtual team meetings and monthly 1:1 calls with your supervisor

Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred)
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of bookkeeping experience
  • Equipment: Must have high speed internet to maintain strong Zoom connections and a proficiency in QuickBooks Online

  • Previous experience with Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, etc…), Asana, Clockify, Double (previously called Keeper), Loom, Outlook and Notion
  • Familiarity with bookkeeping for retail and e-commerce businesses
